Vive la France

It all started in a restaurant, strangely enough.

Between a dozen of exquisite oysters and tasty boeuf bourguignon, a fresh ratatuille and a delicious chocolate souffle’, the diners started hearing what sounded like fireworks outside the restaurant.

They kept eating like nothing was happening, wondering what the fireworks were for, before realizing that those noises were, in fact, gun shots and they were about to be killed mercilessly during their last supper.

This is a post by an Italian that wants to celebrate France for its amazing cuisine, its incredible soccer (any ancient rivarly put aside) and its freedom.

A Country that has always embraced a variety of tastes, welcoming the African, the Muslims, the Catholics, the Atheists, the rich and the poor, the classy and the commoners, the historical and the contemporary, the arts and the messiness, the beautiful and the ugly.

Paris will always be Paris, the city of love. Today, the city of hatred.

But the more they hate her, they more we love her.

Name a French designer you love. A French poet you like. A French song you grew up with. A French soccer player you adore. A French dish you can’t live without.

The hating people won’t stop the loving people from loving France.

We won’t leave our tables. We will keep on eating.

It’s time for French dinner. It may tastes sour today, but the sweets come last.
